4. Student-Centric Activities

1.Learn & Earn – Self Employment Opportunities Programme

Under the IQAC initiative, the Department of Economics organized a special programme titled “Learn & Earn – Self Employment Opportunities” on 26th September 2025 at the College Mini Auditorium.

The programme aimed at creating awareness among students regarding self-employment, entrepreneurship opportunities, and skill-based livelihood options.

Dr. Bommaiah M delivered an insightful session on self-employment opportunities, government support schemes, entrepreneurship development, and the importance of technical and business skills for achieving financial independence.Mr. B. Santosh Shetty conducted interactive group activities and motivational sessions which enhanced student participation, teamwork, and communication skills.

2.Competitive Examination Guidance

The department encouraged students to appear for various competitive examinations and government recruitment tests. Faculty members guided students regarding examination procedures, career planning, and application processes.

Applications for students appearing for Konkan Railway RRB examinations were facilitated by the department faculty.

 3.AI-Enabled Learning in the Classroom

The Department of Economics introduced innovative AI-enabled learning practices in classrooms to improve analytical thinking and digital literacy among students.Students were encouraged to use Artificial Intelligence tools for conceptual learning, research-oriented discussions, and problem-solving activities beyond textbook learning.

4.Extension and Community Engagement

Dr. Bharath Raj S Nejar served as a Resource Person at RUDSET Brahmavar and delivered sessions for PMEGP beneficiaries on entrepreneurship development, financial awareness, and self-employment opportunities.

Dr. Bharath Raj S Nejar was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Infrastructure Economics from Kuvempu University for his research work titled: “Role of Road in Rural Development – A Study in Udupi District “The research work was completed under the guidance of Dr. B. Jayarama Bhat.

5. Project Works Assigned to Students

The Department of Economics encouraged students to undertake project works related to socio-economic issues, rural development, entrepreneurship, and current economic challenges.
